Lookout Mountain Museum Plaza

For this phase of the project, I chose to develop the area between the parking lot and the relocated museum, located in the southwestern portion of the master plan. The design is informed by the geometric forms found in traditional Ute beadwork and textiles, bringing cultural reference into the spatial language of the site. My intent was to expand the interpretive experience at Lookout Mountain—home to the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave—by recognizing the land’s significance to the Ute people. While the site focuses heavily on the story of Buffalo Bill, it currently offers little acknowledgment of the Indigenous history embedded in the landscape.
